He punches up the comm dashboard for voice-to-text "Yep. Up to Maine and back again."

TXT: OH. Da, are you okay? You've been a bit down since you saved Father Pace which is weird as he's actually a nice guy

"I'm ok, Siv."

TXT: Yes, but in Dad ese 'okay' can mean 'i Have all my limbs so even if I'm miserable it's fine'

"Not in this case."

TXT: Alright. I shan't pester you. Let me know when you're getting close to home. We'll cook something nice for you

"Thank you, Siv. I look forward to it."

TXT: Love you. Gotta go. Apparently Goldfinch has a new Orange Mic for Piper to play with

"I don't know what that means, but have fun. Love you too."

And with that, the convo is over. Frank's trip goes pretty uneventually for the first quarter of it

Frank enjoys his audio books.

He sees up ahead a beat up car that seems to have died on the side of the road. There's a frustrated looking father trying to make sense of what's under the hood

And a woman trying to placate 2 very bored kids in the back

Frank slows, and pulls over. He observes before he gets out; do they seem to have phones?

They don't have them out

If they have them at all

Frank shuts down the Rig and clambers down, letting them see his hands casually. He stands a respectful distance away and asks pleasantly "Morning, folks. Car trouble? Can I help?"

The man looks over "Please tell me you're a part time mechanic?" He looks wiped

"Geez he's tall" One kid comments

He chuckles at the comments. "I tinker with my truck and keep my wife's jeep running. Want me to take a look?"

"Please..." The man looks begraggled. Frank has been around enough to read a family in finacial distress "Our phone is shot"

"Let's see here." and he steps over to examine the situation.

(Int plus Mechanics/Craft or tech depending on which is highest)

Frank thinks he can get this thing rolling again, it'll take 15 minutes, and WILL have trouble again in the next day or two. Needs a new part

OOC Ignore that last roll, the app didn't post new content for me there....

He nods. "Let me get some stuff from my truck. I can get you going again but you'll need a real mechanic and a new part or two ay-sap."

The man winces "Yes. I suppose we will"

"Be right back." Frank gets what he needs and returns. "Where you folks headed?" as he ducks back under the hood.

"Keene New Hampshire. We're moving. One of my cousins has some property there, he's selling it to us at a rate we can afford" The woman explain "We coudln't afford the rent where we were at"

Frank nods. "A lot of that going around."

"Got work up there?"

"Dishwasher" the man says with profound embarrassment.. whatever his old job was, that wasn't it "My wife has an interview as a receptionist"

Frank nods again. "Things are rough right now, but you're not giving up. That's not nothing." as he works "Get the family settled and keep looking."

The man nods "That's the plan"

Frank thinks he's got it ready to run

"Try it." he stands up and wipes his hands.

The man gets in the car, gives the ignition a shot, and it comes to life "Thank you, sir. Not sure I even gave names"

"We're the Weathers" His wife says "I'm Erika. This is Jake." her husband "And that's Rob and Jeff"

"Pleased to meet you. Frank King." and given his hand is clean, he offers to shake.

Jake shakes it "Well, we owe you, Frank. But I don't know how we'll ever repay it"

"Easy. Pay it forward. Be kind." Frank nods. "You folks drive safe and take care of each other."

"Will do and will do" He says "Kids, say thank you to Mr. King"

"Thanks Mr. King" They wave

and they drive off. The car will get them there at at least

Frank gets back in the Rig and starts up, waiting his turn to pull out into traffice.... and off he goes.
