"So...curious, and you do not always respect the boundaries of others' privacy?" she asks with a brow.

"I...would to think so?" She would like to think so "I mean, you ttwo WERE talking about me so I was involved? it wasn't private from me because it was about me?" She digs the toe of her boot into the ground nervously

"Hm." Brekke glances over at Frank's gesture, then back to the girl. "Squire, Count Hemlock may not have realized that Sir Franklyn is about to return to his endeavors as a trucker, which means he will be traveling often. Travels that would not always be safe for a childling."

He nods agreement.

"Then I'll wait where he tells me until we can resume training. While he's gone I can study and practice on my own, I'm used to that " True

"Unless you're .. " A nervous look "Am.. Am I being refused?"

She is quiet for a moment. When she speaks, she doesn't answer the childling's question. "Kassidy, what are your mortal connections. Parents, family...?"

"I don't have a mortal family" She states (True) "I am From Jersey..." As if she fears she might be doubted, she demonstrates getting louder and mimes shaking a fist " "i'm WALKIN HEEEREE! Fergghit about it" then "The Big Apple's fulla worms!"

"So as you can see, I interact with any mortals well, except maybe New Yorkers"

Frank sighs.

A slight huff which Frank would recognize as amusement but which might be indecipherable to the girl. She looks to Frank, and there's some sort of quiet exchange.

"I'm sorry if I'm a bother, there's just.. there are NO knights at Caer Falken that want a Liam" her chin quivers a bit, but only for a second

Frank exhales.

A brow from Brekke.

Neither seems to be listening to Kassidy at the moment.

the delay and huffs and exhales confuse the girl and she says "Honest! I asked! I .. went to different knights. The .. the nice ones had .. excuses like already havinng squires... or at least let me down gently"

"You're not being rejected Kassidy. You are welcome here." Frank says quietly but firmly.

"Then.. who is my knight?"

A nod at Frank's words.

A bit of confusion

Brekke is still regarding Frank.

"I am." with a sigh.

She smiles her eyes a bit moist "you won't regret it, Sir Franklyn, I'll work hard, you'll see. And I know how to shine boots and armor really well. Bet I could clean your truck" A thought" the parts i can reach"

"You might want to stay away from the truck," Brekke advises. "For now."

"Squire, when Sir Franklyn is travelling, you will be in my care."

Her mouth drops open in surprise "But don't you have a squire of your own? I wouldnn' want to get ... uhm.. wouldn't want to upset your regular squire"

"She does not." Frank answers.

A brow at Frank, and then to Kassidy, "No. I do not." She doesn't point out that she's managed to avoid having a squire for this long.

Frank might look just the slightest bit sour about that, now.

"Wow, if they hear about that you might get flooded with applicants" The girl says what both trolls already suspect

A brow at the girl. "Then you would likely have to compete for attention and training, so perhaps it is best it is not brought to their attention."

Yup. Bright girl "Gotcha, I mean.. yes, Baroness. " She looks at Sir Frannklyn "Can I refill your coffee, Sir? Or get some for the baroness? I want to start while you're here"

"We'll need Anne Marie's help." Frank says to Brekke, a trifle resigned.

"Anne Marie?" She asks

Brekke nods to Frank, then says, "You will meet Anne Marie. She helps many of the new arrivals to our barony."

"Well if she needs paper work about my identiy and such I have some to make blendin me in easier... it's in my pack" It would seem CAer Falken DID think of somethings

"No, thank you, on the coffee, Kassidy. Unless Brekke....?"

Brekke shakes her head at the coffee offer. "If you have identity papers, that will help. One less task to give her."

"I'll go get them!" And she runs back inside

apparently so eager she forgot to ask if she could go

Frank regards Brekke.

Brekke looks back at Frank.

"Well."

"I'm going to speak to Sir Carowyn; ask him to help out with this when I'm not here.

"Hm."

A nod. "There is much about your house I could not teach her."

That's when Siv comes out of the lodge, "mom, dad? there's this kid claiming she's moving in and is dad's squire.. and did I want coffee?"

"I think she might have bedlam" Siv looks back worriedly

"Nope. I might, though." Frank sighs.

"Her name is Kassidy and yes, she's my new squire."
