"Basketball doesn't. And gym and shop are okay. Didn't really have either of those in lockdown."

"Oh yeah, you like that stuff" he remidns himself "Okay. .so the sigh was a happy sigh?"

"I mean, mixed?"

"School mostly sucks, but there's some good stuff in the mix."

"Yeah." A nod "You taking French this year and making Vali happy?" A grin andn without waiting for her answer "me neither"

"Yeah. Spanish with May and Lupe."

"Lupe's a ringer, of course."

"So how come she mostly makes just Bs?" A grin

"She's lazy."

"Me, I gotta work for B's."

"I gotta work for Cs and Ds" He flushes

She shrugs. "You judge a fish on its ability to climb trees, yeah? You're plenty street smart."

"Thanks... mann now I'm hungry" He opens the fridge again "HEarth always tries to hide the good stuff she doesn't want us o get in those unmarked containers"

"Well, some of it is planned for dinner... leftovers should be on the second shelf, though."

"Yeah but the stuff I'm not supposed o have tastes better" He protests

"Yeah, well, maybe I drop a word about your restrain and Kerri makes something even BETTER as a reward..."

A pause then "Left overs are on the second shelf you say?"

"Yup."

"RIght" Annd he gets that instead

"I might try making pepperoni rolls this week."

"Yeah? When? Maybe I'll drop over. Anne Marie's a great cook but sometimes she forgets a redcap needs like a square 5 and a half meals a day"

She nods. "Can do."

"Thanks " He heats up some left overs.

And soon is pouring into his gullet

Dagmar sneaks a snack, too.

Feeling much better, the redcap washes the dish and stuff he just used annd says "See you around, Dags. Pepperioni rolls sound good"

"Yeah, seeya. Gonna check on the horses."

He wipes his lips nods. The two part, clearly the talk did Dirk some good
