Dag puts an arm lightly around the Varich, as if that could protect her from the whole world. Who knows - it might.

And for a moment, just a moment, the Varich almostt lets herself cry, but she resolves and says "I'll be fine"

Grunt of reassurance. Her arm stays. Right now is the waiting, and silence can be comfortable, too.
