Despite the change of topics, and the boggan's assurance that everything is fine, there is a tension in the air

Kerri looks at her a long moment, then calls out, "Squire Brogan?" towards the kitchen.

Squire Brogan pops out "My lady?"

A not-quite-flinch at the title, but she gestures Brogan closer. "I have some questions about your House, if you'd be so kind as to illuminate me."

"Of course" he bows then says "House Daireann is, if you ask any Daireann, the greatest House of all"

"So I have heard," she says, silently adding: from most houses. "Tell me about the obligation for vengeance."

"Vengeance is one of the core tenants of our nature, Honor of a personal nature probably comes first for me, but Vengeance and Hospitality are strong seconds. When wronged a Daireann will stop at nothing to reclaim their pride, and as we are mostly unseeliee, our idea of honor is not as ..rigid as say a Gwydions"

"Mm. So...is an insult to one Daireann an insult to all members of the house? If you were wronged, would your housemates be bound to help you in your vengeance?"

"Oh no, vengeance can be a very personal thing , much as honor. "

"I see." She pauses a moment. "What would it take for a Daireann to abandon a quest for vengeance?"

"A..abandon?" His eyes widen

Anne Marie sips her drink trying to hold onto her color and not visibly pale

She blinks. "Perhaps...consider settled?"

"Or withdraw?"

"Hearth, you are familiar with the term 'eye for an eye'?" The young squire says

"Yes. I'm also familiar with the addition: ...leaves the whole world blind."

"Yes. well, my House finds hte idea of an eye for an eye rather weak and undeservedly merciful. Three fold is the classic amount.. for poetry's sake, but most go more than that, and only the softest of Daireann would take 2 eyes for an eye and call it a day. "

"Oh for goodness sake" anne marie mutters

She frowns. "What if the Daireann were proven wrong? If he or she were actually at fault, might the quest of vengeance be withdrawn?"

"Depending on how it's handled it might work. THough personal honor can be another prickly thing. Hearth, you don't have one of my House after you do you?" A worried look "You may wish to warn your husband and daughter if so."

Her brows go up. "If I did, you think they might go after my family?"

"Depending on the slieight, absolutely. We've cursed entire family lines ... mind you, I say we rather loosely. I myself prefer the hosptiality angle of the House. I see Vengeance as the least of the three traits. " A frown "Perhaps I have gotten a bit soft myself but vengeance just doens't hold the same appeal as it used to." A sigh

"I'm gratified to hear that." Kerri taps her fingers on the table as she thinks a moment.

Anne Marie does not look gratified, her alarm has grown
