"Oh, Kerri" Sally Mae says "Please, don't think of it. Just...well, my family's Beltaine is going on and I'm still irked with them so I thought I'd be fine here despite the fact I always felll that old kinian ceiling. .. I'm glad Adam got his due. He's a fine boy...but I guess it drives my situation home to see him and Gerd.. well.. no one is ever going to call me Hearth. I dont' want your job, mind, I just would like to know i.." A huff "I know I can be anything I want to be.. in the mortal world. But the fae one, well, I'm not a changeling. I can't even seduce one" Embarrasment?

Piper notices the veggie portion of the buffet. "Ooo, is that a quiche?! Excuse me...." And slips off to check it out.

"Oh, Sally Mae...I thought...we were aiming this as the younger set. And you are already committed to the Hearth work, so...I didn't realize...." She pauses. "Seduce?"

Adam grins as Piper heads in search of eggy cheese pie, and gets a refill in his mug before taking a turn around the party.

"Nice jewelry, Adam!" Sylvi says as she and Colton go by.

"Uh.... thanks." Chin-jut.

Sally Mae puffs "Of course, and it should be for them. I'm a grown woman in college. And thanks to your teaching I.. well, I am damn good at all aspects of Hearth work... they need this mroe, but I saw Gerd and I realizeed.. she COULD be a good hearth, maybe a VERY good one... if she applies herself more. And she's a full troll and.. then that.. I realized I envied the road she has open. I'm a bit young yet for 'oh what might have been'..." then a blush "As for seduction, I .. made a strong play for Sir Carowyn. He likes me. He tried to protect me from Lyron's macchinations" Amused "And Lyron is a heart throb but there's not a mean bone in that islander's body. And he'd never pressure. I thought maybe part of it was... he wanted me. And I thought maybe... " blush "But he didn't show for Beltaine. I think I scared him off. And.. well.. that sort of rejection, where he scatters rather than 'break' the fragile kinian is just... god. It's gnawing and jumbled"

"Oh, Sally Mae. I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, Gerd doesn't have a particular interest in the Hearth as a future, not that I've seen. And..." she stops. "Wait...you're right, Sir Carowyn isn't here." She frowns. Did he mention that he'd be somewhere else?

She doesn't see him. No. But then, he does work with Jaymes a lot. Taking the night shift for his store.

But he hasn't been here all day

"Sally Mae, come with me." And Kerri strides off in search of Jaymes.

Adam's stroll brings him around to Zane. "Dude." a grin "Nice swag."

Jaymes isn't far off, he's sitting with Dagmar, Tove and.. well, Torin is nearby strumming and showing off For M.A.

"you too, man" Zane grins at Adam "I got to say I did not see this coming, did you?"

"Hi, various and assorted Kings," Kerri says. She's smiling, but it's tense.

Jaymes nods "mm. eve hearth."

"Hey Kerri!"

Tove smiles "Hello. I don't know if it's the pregancy talking but these spinach puffs are addictive"

"Mmmph." Piper agrees through a mouth of puff.

"Thank you, Tove." Kerri nods, but looks preoccupied. "Jaymes, a word?" She draws him away.

Jaymes kisses his wife , rises and goes to follow "yes?"

"Hell no." Adam answers Zane. "Kinda freaked me out. In a good way."

"Well, our folks look impressed, maybe that'll buy us some free time without mowing the lawn?" Zane grins

"Jaymes, Sally Mae here," she nods to the kinain, "she says she thought Sir Carowyn was going to be here, but he didn't show up. Is he working tonight?"

"He took the whole day in fact, double shift" Jaymes says

"Oh, well, that tells me what I need to know then" Sally Mae says resigned.

Jaymes looks confused

"Maybe?" Adam carefully doesn't look in the direction of the rest of his family. "Be nice if it just got me, us, treated like, you know. People. People who can handle business."

Kerri looks surprised. "Did he say why?"

"I asked him too. I wanted to be here today with my family. he works nights normally so..double shift" Jaymes says perplexed

"You asked him too," Sally Mae says

"Yeah" He nods "Waht's this about?"

Zane pats Adam on the shoulder "Looks like they're letting a lot slide to night man. Go easy on that drink, Piper's a cool cuz but if you puke on her hooves she's gonna not feel romantic"

"Don't blame Jaymes, Sally Mae. Carowyn should have told you."

"Jaymes, would you trust somebody else to take over at the store so Carowyn can have a bit of Beltaine?"

"Yeah, I'll be careful. Don't wanna puke."

Jaymes says "Well, I don't have anyone else.. I suppose I could just close up early. I do OWN the place. Do you need him?"

Adam sighs. "I think my mom sent the ladies home... see, -that- is what I'm talking about, Dude."

"How can your mom send them home? It's not her party"

Kerri squares her shoulders. "Well, will I do?"

Jaymes looks at her confused, "Kerri?"

Sally Mae says "Kerri, don't be silly. I'm not going to rob yoru family of you on beltaine. I'll go bring him food"

An eyebrow. "Do you see them?"

(Referring to the Cuban sisters)

"Oh" he looks around.

"Well...if you insist, Sally Mae. I'm more than willing...."

"Yeah." Momentarily bummed.
