"Oh my." She says gently "Sometimes families are hard to pin down. You can't make someone into a mom or dad, even if they should be. Sometimes, you want to be loved so much, to be worthy ... that it never occurs to you that you can be good, and kind, and smart, and just darn near perfect, but they won't see you as special. That's not your fualt when it happens. Some folks are blind in the heart is all. Other times, sometimes, a mom or dad, who are supposed to be provider and guardian and a mentor all at one... just can't... so they ask someone else to do it.. to be the mom or dad... and if those love you, then, well, you just got two new moms and dads sort of, whatever you call them... and that's hard because you miss the first one, but you're not betraying them because they want you to be happy.
