Sylvi does not have patrols. What she does have is a dad.

"You're going where?" Olgar asks

She keeps as casual as possible, though her heart is beating a mile a minute. "I'm going to visit Colton, Dad. I'll be back for school tomorrow. Torin said he'd take my patrol. He was eager for it, I didn't ask him to," she points out.

"How long do you plan to be gone? Your mom's gonna wonder" Oh he's not making this easy

"Well...I'm not sure...I mean, you know how trods get...but like I said, back for school tomorrow." She tries really hard not to bite her lip. "Dad, I said I'd meet him, and I don't want to be late...."

"Ok. Go on. And ... " A look, "But ... don't be in a rush. You never need to rush a journey..." A pause "I mean, you know trods."

And he steps back to let her go.

She blinks at him and stands there a moment, looking at him. Then she gives him a hug, a long one. "I love you, Dad," she whispers.

"Love you too" He hugs her back, then lets her go.

"Okay. I'll...I'll let you know when I'm home." She pauses just a moment, then heads for the door, Flopsy in her wake.

And she's off to the trod.

And off she goes.
