Adam puts the ball under his arm. "Who the hell wants to know?" He's tall, good-looking, and he (now) has an arrogant angle to his head.

"Me. Name's Dirk," He looks over Adam and snorts. "Your family move in or something?"

"Yeah." Bounce. "What are you lookin' for Symon for?"

"Anne Marie wants him. That's his step mom. You seen him or not?"

There is something about Dirk's gaze that is uncomfortable to meet head on.

.... so Adam turns to eye the basket. "He left."

"Figures. I'm gonna get stuck with the dishes again, I know it" He spits on the ground, "Well. I'll find him."

"Yeah. Good luck." Bounce, eyeing the basket.

A snort "Yeah. I got a girlfriend that shoots better than you"

and Dirk turns to go.

"-You- got a girlfriend?!?!" startled out of his attitude.

"Damn straight, hot latina girl...she's like this short, and still makes your throws look weaksauce. What? You racist or something? Got something against spanics?" Nevermind that Adam couldn't know until now she was latina

"No I'm not racist.....Are -all- the girls around here hot?!?"

He pauses, "Donno, never thought about it. I mean..most the girls I hang around are special...and I don't mean the retarded way. " He doesn't seem the sort of guy to hang around that many girls at all. Well, maybe the ones with issues.

The subject has made him seem less 'casually hostile'

"Sylvia, Siv, Sam?" He asks with a certain amount of foreboding.

"Oh, you know em." He grunts

"Yeah... if you want Hot Girls, Sam's not as good looking as Sylvi or Siv... but she's got a right hook that could shove your face into a wall and I guess that's kind of a turn on" He nods. "Oh there's Gerd but she's only 12 so she don't count."

"Heard Sylvi's got a big boyfriend. "

"Oh Colton? Yeah. But then lots of big folks around here... " A pause "Lots of Norweegan Americans I guess."

"Me? I find Colton kind of boring..most interesting thing about him is his arm. But he's no wimp"

"Yeah, what's the story with his arm?"

"It got caught in somebody..thing" he grins , not a pretty smile "He's a new prosthetic one. Cooler than the real thing."

"Wild." He seems moderately impressed. "You live here long?"

"Yeah, Fostered now. My bio mom sucked. but always been in the area."

"Good you found someone, though."

"Well the .. Siv's mom found out I had trouble and hooked me up with Anne Marie, she's a social worker. Mrs. King, that's Siv's mom, she's kind of like...a bad ass park ranger."

"Siv...." He describes her.

"That's her. Her mom's different, but cool. Real quiet like. She talks? you listen." Not an opinion

A shrug. "Yeah, but what are the odds we ever even meet?"

"Yeah, guess not. You ain't special" A shrug as if it's not insulting at all to say it

A bright laugh. "Oh yeah?"

"Nope. Sucks to be you" A smirk "See you around."

"Not if I see you first, asshole." A sure promise.

A turn at that, "Careful, muggle." And the look he gives actually reminds Adam of some rabid thing ready to tear out a throat..and Adam feels his genitals try to recede into his own body as fear rises up fast.

He swallows and tries to snear back with limited results.

"Heh... " A grin... Dirk enjoys the swallow then turns and calls out "SYMON! The more you force me to work to find you the more I'm gonna wanna kick your ass for the effort.." And he stomps off

"Shit...." Adam mutter "That girl better be careful."

He shakes his head, goes inside for a drink, and back out to shoot some more.

His sister goes out with him. This is not an improvement.

Adam ignores her and goes back to shooting.

"Basketball's all you do" She says "Don't you have other things?"

"I have a job." He reminds her.

"Yeah, you work with basketballs" She grins

THen she whispers "I've been having weird dreams ever since we came here"

Adam gives her a dry look. "You -are- a weird dream."

"Fine... but when the shadows steal me away at night and you have to go into the land of shadow to rescue me, and it's reaaaaly hard, you'll have only yourself to blame"

"WwwOooOoOOOOoOoooo....." dramatically.

She sticks her tongue out

"Real mature, squirt."
