"yeah... I think floating fishman heads kind of ah.. yuck." They start to swim back, "Hey, I.. about that protecting you thing. I was trying to reassure your dad. I..didn't think about what I was saying. "

"Yeah...sorry, I shouldn't have snapped. It was just a lot of stuff at once. Look...I like when we can fight together, protecting each other. I don't want to be some kind of porcelain doll or something. I mean...would you have said that to some other squire's father?"

"I don't know... maybe ...and I should think about the qualifiers. I don't think of you as a warrior because your'e so good at diplomacy and stuff...so sometimes I forget you can swing a knife and throw a punch."

"I might not be as good as you or Dagmar, but I know you know I'm not helpless," she reminds him. They get to the shore, and she starts up the ladder on the pier.

He enjoys the view, then "I get that." And follows

Questions abound, who was that weirdo? is she okay? What happened? etc

"That was no weirdo...that was my Dad. He used to do Iron Man competitions, you know, with the swimming and running and stuff? And he likes to keep in shape, so he does distance swimming. I just wasn't expecting him to be out there right now. He doesn't know about this bathing suit...well, he didn't know. He has opinions." She rolls her eyes, looking much like her mother will when Olgar gets home a bit later.

"Oh dads are the worse..." Jessi says and other girls agree.

"My dad's pretty amazing, actually, but sometimes he's really inconvenient." She gives a look that suggests that she and Colton might have been out there for much longer if not for the interruption.

Sly smiles and cool points, and yes more sympathy, though another of the guys, a jock gives props to her dad for the iron man competitions "That's some hard core shit. "

"Yeah, Dad's pretty badass. I don't think he ever won one, though." She doesn't want somebody to go looking for her father's championship record or anything.

Some talk about that, some guys boast about how they could do it probably...

and suddenly it's just teenagers hanging out.

Sylvi does wrap up in the towel while they all talk. Her dad was right...she is freezing now that she's out of the water!

Colton puts his towel around her too, it's not big enough to do much but her shoulders but it helps

She smiles at him. This kind of heroism is absolutely acceptable, and she revels in it.

Sensing he is indeed not in the dog house, he gives her a smile back, and if he's cold, he sure doesn't complain. Thank goodness for the sun though.

Floating fishmen heads aside, and dadus interuptus not included? It's a good day.

Siv and Sylvi clash, "So.." Weapons dance, "he tried to protect you... "

The sparring between the girls goes smoothly enough.

"Well, yeah." Swish! Sylvi's practicing with spear, and Siv is quick.

Siv weaves under, using her rapier, but darn if that wasn't close, "Well, it's not just guy trolls who do that. Though Bancroft has it too now and then and he's a sidhe. I think it's hard to tell though... I mean, would he have done the same for a guy friend? or was it definitely a 'me man, you woman ugh' bit?"

"That's just it!" Thrust, evade. "I don't know! But it was like three times, boom-boom-boom, in a row!" She accents the words with switching the spear around quickly. "He tries to get between me and whatever it was before we knew it was dad, he tells me to get back, and then he's all like 'I'll protect your daughter, Sir!' without even asking me if I needed protecting!"

"And I asked him that, too! I asked if he'd have done that to another squire's father!"

"Oh wow, yeah I can see why you'd be wondering! Geez!" She moves to lunge and is successfully dodged by the spear wielder.

Sylvi tries a thing where she turns as she dodges the lunge, so she actually moves past and behind Siv, but she's not as fast as the older girl...it might not work. "He apologized, but...geez...like I want my dad to think I need a guy to protect me?"

Siv tries a flip and actually pulls it off.

"Hey, almost got me!"

"Whoa! That was cool!"

"Thanks..learned it in gymnasitcs...nearly broke my head open one time doing it but that time? Not bad..." She tries for a quick tap while Sylvi seems distracted, "Hey, neither of you had armor right? Maybe he was trying to shelter you with that hard glass arm? It's the only tactical reason Ican think of him to pull that 'me shield you flower' bit"

Sylvi is distracted, and Siv gets through with that tap. A wince, then Sylvi sticks her tongue out. "Okay, one for you." She starts a new attack. "It's not like weapons are our only defense, Siv. I've got Arts."

Siv finds herself forced back by the new flurry of spear work, "I know... but Colton is SUCH a storm type you know? Not that mom ignores her arts, but you know what i mean."

"Yeah." Sylvi frowns with concentration now, wanting to land at least one hit.

Siv is damned hard to hit, and often let whims takes her, but she's still a person, and people sometimes fall into patterns. Siv for example, while talking, has been doing parry, twist , lunge or parry twist, feint thrust... if Sylvi can predict the next twist...what follows after won't matter.

"Maybe you need to slap him around in the sparring ring with a magic duel... lightly, of course" Siv grins merrily

"Remind him of the magical side of our nature, we have sorcerers as well as warriors" And the twist should be coming up... now.

Sylvi sees it coming, and breaks her own rhythm with a lunge-feint-crouch-thrust that hopefully lands because she's going to have to recover quick from that position!

"That's...not a bad idea. Cantrip sparring."

Siv gets it right in the hip "WHOA!" And down she goes

"Ouuuuch" Siv laughs "Maybe it's not just Colton that underestimates you...damn, good hit."

"Hey! Finally!" She laughs, too.

The girl gets up a bit slower than usual, "Okay, what was my tell?"

Sylvi smiles. "Not sure I should tell you, I might need it again!"

"Oh I see how it is," Siv snorts "Was I talking too much? Mom thinks I talk too much during a fight. "

"Well, we both were. Don't think it was that. No, okay...when you parry? You almost always do this little twist thing right after before you do your follow-up move. It's like smack-ah-boom, smack-ah-whoop-boom. I finally got the pattern of the ah parts."

"Ah ..dman.. yeah.. i got distracted by the colton talk and the managing of boys. Okay, thanks. I see it now that you mention... got to get my head in the game so to speak. Appreciate it. Still, damn good hit. If you were TRYING to break my hip you could have... the shot was dead on" She praises, "Talented as well as lovely, that's our Sylvi."

Then, if Sylvi should pause in a moment of vanity, a quick attempt at another tap from Siv!

Darn...that was a nice clean hit because the distraction worked. "Oof! Hey!"
