WIth Sylvi off, others are getting ready for Carnival- For Dagmar, she's staying at the lodge. To watch the childlings! But that said, her brand new THrud costume looks pretty awesome.

Thrud has Flyswatter. Because Flyswatter.

Brekke is doing a bit of yardwork on an afternoon that hints at the approach of spring. She's not in costume...yet.

Gerd is running around wearing a winged pixie princess outfit, complete with wand

Thrud is watching. "What are you doing? Garden stuff?"

"Mm." Brekke nods. "Break up the soil, mix in some of the old leaf cover. Wake up the earth and the roots beneath. A bit early, but not too early."

She glances at Dagmar, then gives her a more thorough look, and a nod. "A very good costume."

Gerd wanders up curiously, "are Siv's penance trees coming up?"

"It's THROOD. Not girl-Thor."

"Thor had a daughter. She's a valkyrie."

"I never heard of her" Gerd says "is she tough?" Then "Oh, she's a Valkyrie, she's gotta be doesn't she?"

"Thor did." Brekke nods. "What else do you know of her?"

"Not too much else. She carried cups."

Then an eyebrow at Gerd. "Penance trees. That is not a friendly term."

"Tove helped with the outfit."

"It's not? Oh.. uhm.. 'oops I'm sorry Aborium?'" Gerd says

"The cup-bearer is a role of honor. Much like the Hearth, in some ways. Do you have a cup?"

Brekke nods at Gerd. "Better."

Tove did give her a flask (IIRC?) with leather container

"I have this?" She holds up the flask.

A grin, and a nod. "That will serve. What is in it?"

"So... cup bearer... like... does kitchen stuff? After being a badass in battle?"

"...Dr. Pepper..."

"Not 'kitchen stuff.' Ceremonial. So really, somewhere between Hearth and Mountain."

"Cup bearers were the most trusted of people in the hold, for the cup meant they held the honor of the lodge" Gerd says looking distantly "And not just anyone was allowed to drink from the cup. Many is a tale of a man who thought himself worth title hero being passed by the maiden with the cup, and when she did so, it was to say 'you are not worthy-yet'. It's a position o power"

Then Gerd shakes her head "Sorry"

"Like... like the Holy Grail in that old movie?"

She affects a scratchy voice. "He chose... poorly! AHHH, FACE MELT! - Right?"

Brekke blinks at Gerd.

Then a nod. "Yes. That." To Gerd. Then to Dagmar, a more dubious look. "Face melt?"

"Oh, that might have been the other movie. They both has Nazis."

"I don't know if I saw this movie" Brow knit

"Hm. It sounds as though you are not yet ready for it, Gerd."

"So, like, getting the cup was an honor, and carrying it was an honor, so it's just, like, a big cup of honor..." She eyes the flask. "I mean, Dr. Pepper is pretty awesome, but probably not a hero's drink."

Gerd sighs "Just cuz Connor and I are the only ones not hit by the Pooh Berty Fairy"

"But to the cup-bearer...it is a role of judgment, Dagmar. The cup-bearer makes a decision of who is worthy, or adheres to the decision of the lord of the mead-hall."

"You don't want it Gerd, trust me."

"I thing that may depend on the hero." Brekke's expression is amused.

"Right... so Thrud was super-trusted in Valhalla?"

"If her role was cup-bearer, yes."

"Okay" She nods to Dagmar, happy to keep that Fairy at Bay

"That's what Tove and Earl said." She shrugs.

"But think carefully before you share that drink with others."

"Earl is okay, but I like Sparrow's art better. She did Rikki Tikki Tavi!"

"Well, Earl drew a pretty great Thrud. And a bunch of others, too..."

Brekke nods and uses her spade on the soil again. "We are Dreaming-blessed to know so many good artisans."

"Yup, you and Tove work with wood. "

"What are you gonna plant there?"

"There are plants here already, deep rooted and bulbed. They will emerge as the spring welcomes them. You will see. But there..." she points with the spade at another spot. "That bed will need planting, but I have not yet decided what." She looks at the girls. "I would consider suggestions."
