Somewhere between lodge and Dagmar's house, wanders a redcap.

Dagmar roams the woods between the two, watching the seasons turn.

Dirk, not her favorite person, does notice her, "sup" he greets.

"Hey." An up-nod back.

"Firnost is no big deal by the way" Just filling her in

"Yeah? You went?"

"yeah, totally empty"

"Oh. That sounds boring."

"Yeah, and the magic gloves card you" A snort "Well, not card. I asked for a beer, damn stupid things gave me root beer"

It's insidious!

"You ever have beer? It's gross. Sort of like... sour bread?"

"Sure I had it, you drink more of it then you don't hate it so much"

"Well, yeah, I guess. I don't like being drunk, though. Sorta feel all... fuzzy, you know? Can't pay attention right."

"Oh shit yeah, also some jerk can roll you for cash or worse if you get blitzed."

"I managed to take a 20 out of my mom's purse when she was stoned out of her mind once"

"Yeah. Exactly. She ever just nod off? Like, you ain't sure if she's asleep or dead?"

"Sometimes I wished she would...but yeah, one time, she went like..a minute it seemd without an eye twitch and I couldn't even tell if she was breathing." A pause "Then she farted in her sleep"

Dagmar snorts a laugh. "Junkies. I ain't ever gonna be like that, that's for sure."

"shit no!" Dirk agrees, "I can eat or drink anything, I'm a cap, but shoot crap in your veins can't get around that. And next thing you know you're someone's bitch if they got the stuff, and act like a bitch if they don't. Fuck that. "

It would seem they have found something they agree on

"Damn straight." A nod.

"You going to the lodge?"

"Thinking about it. You?"

"Yeah. Kerri usually has food."

"Yeah, Kerri cooks good" He admits "She's like the world's tallest boggan or something"

"Heh. Kinda, yeah. I think she's okay. Jaymes is still at work, and I had practice, so I'm starving." Already starting down the path.

Dirk follows , "Yeah, your old man works hard hours sometimes. The slurpess and such are cool though"

An odd expression, almost a smile, at something Dirk says. "Yeah, well, he works. Ain't no bum. You ever mix up the slurpees in a suicide? A little bit from each flavor and stir it up."

"Shit yeah, the blue and purple go well together, or the red and green"

"Don't know why grown ups act like it's gross. You must get boring taste buds when you get old."

"I ain't gonna live that long"

"Know that feeling, but - y'know? Fuck'm, right? Get old just to show they're wrong. So you win."

"I'm a redcap, we're the living incarnations of rage , hunger and violence, we cycle faster than other kith" He says with a shrug "No big."

"Yeah? You fight a lot? Trolls sound like they fight, too. I'm good at it. Figure that's what I'll do."

"Strong as you are, if you go down you ain't going alone" He admits "If I had your strength AND My teeth? I could probably be a real monster" And he says monster like it's a great thing

"I heard a redcap bit off Colton's whole arm." She eyes him. "Would you do that to someone?"

"If they were in my face and wouldn't back off? Yeah. Totally, but I heard the one who bit Colton was some sidhe's bitch."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah, Colton had to fight for his lord or something, and the redcap was some other lord's squire...don't get me wrong, I would totally fight for like money or something, or if someone looked at me wrong, but for someone else? Just cause they said so? Seems stupid"

"Yeah. I don't know if I'm gonna get all oathy or not. Sounds like it can get y ou in a lot of trouble, as a troll."

"Yeah, but trolls get stronger when they oath so there's that"

"True... I mean, I like it here. Maybe I'd oath to the Chief."

A pause "The chief doesn't suck"

"If she oathed back, like, she'd have the troll thing, too."

"Yeah... and she's almost like your aunt or something already"

"Well, not until I'm sained. When I'm sained, there's an oath for adoption. Frank says it's magic, so it'd be real, you know?"

"Not sure what's so real about magic, I mean...like, bullets aren't magic and they're totally put a hole in you real"

"Well, Flyswatter isn't real, but it sure causes damage, too."

"Oh yeah" as if realizaing this "We live in a mixed up world"
