Dagmar has claimed a spot to listen, one knee drawn up to rest her chin upon.

"Yeah? Bet they'd like it. Did you make it up?"

"No, Oh Vali told me it was a great Concordian tradition... I think he's forgotten even I can do an internet search." She rolls her eyes "Turns out it's from a terrible terrible movie called the Rocky Horror Picture Show....which is based on play that was SOOO bad, folks heckleed it, and the heckling was so much better than the show, folks came for the hecklers. Still, the song is pretty, and Vali only had to change a few words. I think he's hoping to tease the others at the lodge"

"Well, Sylvi and Gerd sing. And Siv."

"Oh yes, does my heart good to see it. We trolls aren't known for song you know, but on Thyle it was mostly us...so no one told me my father and I should leave it to others." A grin "Amazing what folks can do if no one tells them otherwise. "

"Yeah? I didn't think trolls couldn't. I mean, we got all different kinds here."

"That we do," She says "I'm not saying you should only seek to get work at what you love, food hs to go on the table after all. But you should definitely do something you love even if only for yourself." A tilt of her head, "What do you love, Dagmar? You're young. But anything looking promising?"

"I don't... I dunno. I always just figured I'd work at a store."

"But, like... maybe it'd be cool to work out in the forest? Like, you can get a job there."

"Chief Brekke does," She nods "She says you like the woods."

She nods. "Yeah. It's nice to just be there, you know? And around here, it's more rural than Englewood or Teaneck..."

"To me it seems very modern indeed," Tove says "But yes. Pretty green for Jersey"

"I heard down in the Barrens it's pretty deep. That's where the Devil is sposedta be - you think he's real? Like, a chimera? But it's woodsy down that ways."

"Rumor has it the Jersey Devil isn't just one thing or person... some say the Jersey Devil is ust a name for a redcap so powerful even sidhe lords scramble. OThers a Chimera made and refined from the dreams of all who hear the tale. And some ...well, some say the Jersey Devil is just an old legend given a new name"

"I wanna go. When I'm sained, right? I wanna go and see."

Tove considers, "You should. I would advise you let family or at least friends go with you. But if you don't mind some advise?"

"Sure?"

"Learn about some other forests too. Far away forests...like further down the appalachin trail, or the great trees of the Red Woods. Or maybe even the black forest of Germany. And if you want once you're sained. Take a visit , see a bit more of the world.... though I do hope you stay near here for home. See, I'm fond of you... but Samantha-Dagmar is growing into a woman, and in this world, a woman should be allowed to dream big."

Tove smiles with wolf teeth

She bites on her lower lip, then shyly smiles back. "Okay."

"But I'd come back. I want to stay here."

"It's your home, of course you do." A nod "You listen to me, this is family, and family isn't ... it's not a prize. It's a gift, and it's not one taken back. Ever."

Her chin juts out - a familiar enough expression by now, that stubborn resistance. "That's not true."

"Well," She pauses, "It should be. Sides, you're not a foster anymore."

"But you think I'm being too... what's the word? Naive?" Not insulted at the notion.

"I don't know if all the paperwork is done..." She frowns. "And even then, it isn't always true. They can send you back even if they've adopted you."

"Well, did any of those folks love you?"

"No."

"Well, Jaymes does." Tove says "And I think that makes a difference. Sides, he needs us..." A blush "you."

"No." She frowns. "He's got a duty, and he's real nice. Decent. But.... "

She rubs the back of her neck, looking down.

"Listening" Tove says simply tilting her head.

"He's done real good. He has. And he - somebody had to take me when bug guy was acting up, because I wasn't safe with the Browns, you know?"

"Well, maybe someone had to, maybe not, but he wanted to. You know how he's not much of a talker right?"
