"But I hafta call sparrow, it's an mergency!" Gerd informs Vali. "You gotta get her here!"

Her guardian looks at Gerd, and looks about "What 'mergency'? Is someone in danger?"

"No.." She says

"Is a resource going scarce?" Raised brow from Vali

"noooo" she says "But.. you know, just go get her?"

"She's the regent for a hold in Willows, a knight of House LIam with dreamers to tend to AND an art student..." He says "She's a little busy"

At the mention of 'art student' Gerd bounces a bit. It's not lost on her uncle.

"Wait" Vali says "Is the emergency somehow 'art ' related?"

Gerd bounces on her heels "YES. See, I need her here to paint THESE birds..." SHe shows the book, "Like she did RIkki. They're all girls, like me, and some are blue, like me...and others have different colors! She's got to do it or..or it'll go undone!"

Vali gives her a look look, then "Gerd. This is not an emergency."

"Beg to differ" The girl says. SHe's not sure of what that term means but she's sure if she says it emphatically enough....

"Look, I'll call Earl...and.." Vali tries to compromise.

"Nooo..." THe childling wrinkles her nose "He'll make the blue birds look like ravens and have the jays sitting on skulls..Yuck."

Vali tilts his head "Gerd. This is not an emergency. Now, I will consider visiting the regent and asking her how busy she is. But only consider. I will not pester, and if she has anything else to do...and she likely will, we let it go . Understood?"

"I..." She notices his look "Fine." She scuffs her shoes then looks up "Are you leaving yet?"

"I..no. First I'm going to have breakfast, then I'm going to have visit TIffany" he says

"Oh, you can snog anytime. Kissings sweet but it's getting in the way now. Maybe Dagmar's right" A hurumph

Vali groans "You'll just have to endure and learn a little patience."

Gerd sighs "Fine. All I wanted in my life was colorful girl birds and Dagmar is nice enough to find some in this book for me- I'm sure it was her! And she's not even an uncle"

"uh huh, I'm wracked with guilt- go get ready for breakfast-wash your hands, both sides, with soap." He jerks a thumb towards the bathroom.

Sighing she heads to do that.

Vali rubs his forehead, and once she's gone mutters "I was never that stubborn as a childling."

(End Scene)

This conversation (okay, just shy of a tantrum! overheard)... shortly thereafter Connor tracks down Gerd - lugging with him with a sheaf of papers, and a box of crayons, markers, and coloring supplies. "We can make birds?" He asks, hopefully. "Until you find your sparrows?"

Gerd turns "uhm, she's really good. Ours wouldn't be..." But then she smiles

"I guess we could try?"

"I bet yours would be real good, you can use all the colors. And not just blue! There's lots of blue already." He quickly adds, "Not that that's bad! I like blue, I do." And happily settles in to color with the other childling, utilizing the blank sides of the recycled pages.

Meanwhile, the Chieftain scratches her head... "I swear, that treatise I was reviewing for signatures was -RIGHT- here..." (end!)

Meanwhile, at the Jaymes and Dagmar house.... things are so well kept it's almost scary. Tove was asked to help out, but she went above and beyond.

no worries, soon there are socks in random places!

Dagmar might hear Tove and Jaymes talking "You rearranged my stuff" // "Only to make it easier to find."

"Your sorting skills are terrible by the way" Tove says

The teenager... listens, out of sight. A smile to herself, that nobody else sees.

"I'm not sure why they need to be folded. I'm jjust going to wrinkle them again." He says sensibly./"You're pulling my leg aren't you?" Tove says with a put upon sigh

"Only a little" He answers, then a pause "You're looking nice." /a pause "That's because I wear unwrinkled clothes" ///"Funny"//"I tried"

She sneaks off for the kitchen... with mixed success.

"Dagmar, that you?" Jaymes says

"I'm gettin' a Dr Pepper!"

"Okay. " Jaymes says "Tove wants to hear that song you learned camping if you're willing when you get the time"

"It's not a song. It's a cadence!"

"Fine , she wants to hear the cadence"

"Used for rowing is it?" Tove asks

"And walking, too. Like, one person leads and everybody else repeats."

"I'm all ears when you have the time"

"You organize shirts, I'll teach you it later." Fridge. Pop!

A chuckle from Tove "I suppose I could do that"

"Oo..." She snags a clementine while she's at it.
