Brekke is pacing impatiently at the top of the driveway, waiting for Lut to get back with Siv.

And Siv hops out, "Thanks, Lut! I'll tell her!"

When she sees her mother, she moves to her "Mom?"

"Did you get the calls and the notes and.. I see you did."

Brekke has the look of anxious mothers throughout history. "What happened?" Eyeing the bloody kerchief at her shoulder.

"Oh it was amazing, this video game 'Post Apocalyptic Trucker' in that arcade, the old school one? Well, it was marked out of order, but dad noticed it had glamoour so we checked it out and we got shanghaied proper..right into the game! An 18 wheeler with armor and a gun! Oh, I got to be on top with the gun..." She explains in a rush and she's just getting started, "There were these books we had to get delivered because it was likee a terrible waste of the world, and there were cannibal mutants in the way..."

Brekke's only half listening, examining the shoulder. "You...with a gun...on top of a truck...in a game...delivering books." She shakes her head. "Hold still." She moves the fabric out of the way, and mimes the gestures of sewing above the wound, the glamour following her gestures, drawing the edges of the wound together.

"Well, it wasn't a..." Looks like a nasty gash delivered by some kind of make shift blade... or it did, the glamour working to reduce it until it's going..going... gone

"What cut you?"

"I think it was a machete with barbs... one of the mutants got on top of the truck, but most of them missed thanks to dad's drivin, oh he was a weaving and a cussing , drove like a demon"

"Well, if anybody had to be behind the wheel...." She nods. "I do not like that you brought the wound out of the game with you. How badly is your father hurt?"

"Bruises, he took some hits, I don't like the look of the one along his neck or at chest but he claims he's 'Fine'" She makes air quotes "I think you should check them when he gets back, but I know you well, it's just he can be a bit blind to danger to hisself , always fussing over me."

She scowls, and looks past her, as if she's about to head right back to the mall...then she takes a steadying breath, and puts an arm around Siv's shoulder. "Come inside."

"Yes, mother... don't worry, he's got company..." She follows, "Mom, he really was great and he's probably ok. It was..." A smile, "it was wonderful to adventure again."

Brekke looks down at her...and grins a bit. "Was it? Well...it is in your blood. And...yes, your father is in his natural habitat when he is behind the wheel of a rig. Cannibal enemies notwithstanding."

Her own smile broadens, "Is dad always like that? Quiet sort of, but then just... does it? "

She tries to press her lips together to suppress the grin, but then it gets through. "Yes. He is." They enter the Lodge. "He was like that in the Dreaming, too...do you remember?"

"yes, like a rock, which I guess why he's a good mountain." A nod, and thoughtful "And a good dad. He.. feels more than he shows and then I get surprised. I shouldn't."

"He keeps much more inside than he ever shows, and sometimes that means he suffers more than you might know."

A sigh, then "Sweet Freya, good thing he's got you."

She shakes her head. "It is good we have each other. And so very good that we have you. How does the shoulder feel?"

"Right as Rain," she says "Want me to get you a drink and I'll give you the details? It's not like the Dreaming, all was as clear as a bell"

"Coffee, only. No sneaking whiskey into it for a joke." She goes to settle in her chair by the fire and watches Siv, her mind still on Frank. "When he had to pretend I was dead, he did it so thoroughly...he nearly sent himself unseelie. I remember that."

A head shake. "But...yes...tell me details."

"I don't do that..." She says and pours coffee "And sounds bad. his... pretending you were dead." A frown, then she nods and goes on..." Okay, we appeared each in our own spot, and dad was calling out for me right away..."

Brekke listens, nodding, and sips her coffee...but at the description of the grey room, she leans forward, frowning.

She notices the frown, "yeah, did didn't think about it, but I had this horrible idea later on when we got out... "

"Yes. Yes, I think I am having the same thought." She frowns. "What is your father's plan for the machine, do you know?"

BRB

"I think he's planning on smuggling it out if he can figure out a way to keep the power going but the hows and so on.." she shrugs

((Back))

"I...think that is a good idea..." A slow nod, then a sigh. "I will have to refresh my knowledge of driving a rig."

"Or Tailgunning" She says "Controls were close enough to a balista and harpoon I adapted"

"Hmm." A nod. "How many in the grey room?"

"I think at least five, but I didn't really look around at the time, and mom? "

"Yes?"

"If for some reason we start using this thing regularly, I want my turn again. This isn't banality and I can handle it fine."

Brekke takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, looking to the 'Fire. "That is not for me to decide alone...but I will speak with your father about it."

"Thanks," She says with a firm nod. "I..had a talk with dad.. but, let not sure it will take root."

"Hm." A slight grin. "We are frustrating old parents, are we not?"

"Almost as frustrating as you are grand" She says with the straightest face she can, but her eyes sparkle then a thought "Mom, can I ask you a... well ,I know you started late with boys and all...but.. ah, when you kiss a boy say on a holiday, and he kissed you and he doesn't call back... does...does that mean I did something wrong?"

Brekke's eyes widen...a brief flicker ofpanic? Then... "Did you draw blood while kissing him? Or mock his manhood somehow?"

"No!" She blinks horrified, "And I plan on waiting awhile before I see any lad's 'manhood' than you, maybe years.. I.." A blush "Oh, you mean his masculinity. No"

She shakes her head. "Then...I do not think you did something wrong."

"Whew" Then "I guess he's just not interrested. that's a shot to the pride." A wince "Other fish in the sea and all?"

"I suppose that is possible, Siv." A pause. "Or perhaps he is shy? This was on Beltane?"
