Things to think about for RP tonight -

PatchWorm can take the team
1) to Ardent Harbor - allows for resupply, contact with people there. It is likely to take longer to get from AH to where the prisoners are. Not a lot of Balor-friendly places in Scarsdale....
2) A point -near- where the Balor left the Dreaming with the prisoners - puts them in range, but avoid stumbling out on top of them (if Balor/prisoners are still there)
3) PW could take them to the rath where the Balor left the Dreaming with the prisoners - this is the fastest possible route to their target

RP goes faster if you discuss now and have a general plan come the evening for RP. Will email this out as well.

Zara votes for either 2 or 3. Too easy for the prisoners to move out of range with a big delay.

Ice votes for #2 or #3 also. He's been told that time passes oddly in the Dreaming, and why risk a time discrepancy by leaving the Dreaming, coming back in, then leaving again? Bigger chance of losing them that way, he figures.

Besides, if there's mortal security? Z & Ice might stand a chance.

Question for ST - Can the chimera leave the trod? Once it does, it theoretically can only survive a day unless fed Glamour. It doesn't have Traverse Dreaming as a Rede, so it couldn't make the trip by itself -- but it doesn't actually say in the books, whether a FAE can lead the chimera out. Ice still considers it a useful tool, possibly to provide a distraction without risking someone else.

Are you asking if the many-legged Chimera Ice has (the one he sent after the horses) can leave the Dreaming and enter the mortal world? Or leave the Silver Path and venture off into the deeper Dreaming?

Pretty sure it can leave the Path, but entering the mortal world. The Rede TD is needed for it to do it of its own volition, but it isn't clear if it can be TAKEN or led.

● Traverse Dreaming (Changeling: The Dreaming, p. 222) This Rede allows chimera to travel to the mortal world from the Dreaming, or to enter the Dreaming from the mortal world. Chimera can only travel through established trods and portals, though some travel chimerical trods known only to their kind.

Not that he can stick it into his pocket, but if he could? What would happen to a chimera without the rede taken from the Dreaming?

From what I read based on your C&P it looks like in order to move to the mortal world it would need the TD Rede. I would ask, was it designed to move between worlds?

I wish I could say it was -- but I know Jer was expecting everything to occur in the dreaming, so he didn't waste 'energy' (points) giving it an ability to hop in and out. But it doesn't mean Ice wouldn't try -- it's not clear what happens to chimera led or taken out. There's no reason for them to break apart (unless they have Dreamform Rede, which means they are pure Glamour without physical form) -- but if you try, does it wham into a barrier? It's ambiguous, and this is a question so abstract I can't see C20 addressing it.

If you pick up a chimerical frog in the Dreaming and carry it out, what happens to it?

Unless it has the Rede, according to strict interpretation, it doesn't come with....nothing without it would.

So -- basically, wasn't sure if it was more of a, "Can't come at all", or "Can't come under its own volition'.

(Any answer you give doesn't have to be binding -- the Dreaming is capricious, and what works once may not work again the same way.)
