There's a short story by Heinlein called "The Green Hills of Earth" - it was a very short one, not even a novella - I think 10-15 pages?

I seldom like short stories, I feel like they end just as you're getting invested in the plot. But this one was the first story (long or short) that I've read in a long time that, completely honestly, brought tears to my eyes.

Highly recommended.

It's also the name of a poem (from the same titled story) and a short story collection (that contains said story)

In which there was another short story, "Gentlemen, Be Seated!" that was also good, but in a humorous rather than poignant way

When I was in my late teens, I sometimes saw young couples with women coming up behind their boyfriends and putting their hands in the guys pockets, nothing vulgar, and I always thought "Oh how cute." Later, I learned the truth... she was loading him up like a pack mule because of the Patriarchy!
