Trying to tie the wires of the story together end to end can be a pain for me too. Got one Novel that had a great start... then kind of puttered lamely... so I just skipped ahead . I hope to to fix the middle later

I like the bit where Nat secures Steve's apartment, because it's like setting a scene for the reader to draw conclusions about Steve's life.
