I had a BBQ Sandwich myself, and a baked potato

He -can- cook; I mean, he won't starve on his own. But he's not familiar with some basics and his sense of timing is off (very typical of ADHD; time-blindness).

Example: Today's dinner was quiche; it's scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese in a pie crust, and baked. He knows how to do all that. Easy. He had a printed recipe. EASY.

However, he didn't READ the recipe this morning so didn't know what the ingredients looked like or when he should start it or that a quiche needs to cool before you cut into it, adding time til you eat.

And when it said "9-inch deep-dish" he read "a 9 inch deep dish".

I got a ruler and showed him and DEFIED him to find a 9 inch deep dish in our kitchen and he did have the good grace to smile sheepishly.

He was trying to put the pie crust (which he couldn't find in the fridge b/c it was in a box and he was looking for a crust in a pie plate) in a pasta bowl.

And when the pie crust tore and fell apart he interrupted my meeting to try and get me to help and when I ignored him he flounced away announcing we would not have dinner tonight.

When I finally got away from work (first-day issues) I did come and help but man, he makes it hard to help him sometimes.

Huh. I tend to need instructions as well.

What with one thing and another, we went from ~5:30 dinner time to an 8pm dinner time. People were hungry.

YUP

ANYway, we did eat dinner, it WAS very tasty, and he and I talked through what to do about planning ahead with dinner tomorrow. It's supposed to be leftovers, and probably will be, but ya gotta be ready to supplement.
