The main protagonists are atypical. Our idealist hero is a roboticist with an eye twitch, allergies, and a tendency towards nausea. His best friend is a more pragmatic room mate, who is a microbiologist who does know some Bokken use (For Kendo) and she appears to be 'on the Spectrum'. They are in a plutonic relationship. Other characters include a jaded older captain struggling to keep her ship flying despite debt and fuel costs, and her 19 year old genetically altered crew member who acts as the muscle, but has unicorn shaped candles (That she doesn't want to use or that would destroy them) and leans towards romantic naive despite a very rough life.
