Crown is when the SCA fights a tourney to win the next kingship

Midrealm (where you & I are) does 6-month reigns

so the fighter fights "for the honor" of a consort, and they become heirs for 6 months, then reign for 6

the fighter is "Crown" and the honoree is "Consort" because it is more inclusive than "Knight & Lady"

We've had a handful of Queens by Right of Arms, and we've had some Male-male pairs, and Male/Non-Binary. No Lady-Lady pairs yet.

While there's some controversy over the fact that we still select for Crown via combat, it's what we got. It's fun to watch, lots of pomp. Saturday is all classes & rapier stuff, while sunday is the main tourney
