I swear to dog, I manage to get dogs that have allergies. Black, white chest blaze, allergies. That's my dog. We have dog dermatologists....

but yes, sometimes it seems we're drawn to the 'problem children' of the canine set

That's the thing, I don't do it intentionally. I just fall for dogs with unseen issues.

To be fair, the best dog I had was a shepherd mix who had been maltreated. Came to us a young shy scared thing. Hated loud noises, bangs...

thunder. I suspect he was shot at once

But he really blossomed and became the most loyal dog, and smartest one we had. He even got protective of us. Used to 'patrol' about the house

Now, I also had a basset. Love her, she was small for her breed... she was NOT smart as a whip, but so adorable you didn't care.

Yeah, Covid lock downs were interesting pet wise. Dogs were like "OH YES, THIS IS THE BEST TIMELINE EVER!" , Cats were like "Why aren't you giving me my space? What fresh hell is this?"

Jewel likes to perch herself on the stairs so she is aware of me AND the boys upstairs.

That was Claire's favorite spot. View of front door, near kitchen and living room access, and guardian of hall to the upper bathroom. The center of house trafic forcing maximum notice of her 🐶

But also, she could see maximum house traffic.

Loved her for many years

When she and I were younger, I would drive her nuts by 'avoiding her' in the kitchen. It has two open ways, so I'd circle thorugh the living room, she'd 'casually' try to get me back in line of sight. I'd 'casually' pick up the pace.

It became a chase shortly after that, and because of linoleum being very unfair to dogs, I actually got a bit of a lead until she opened up. Oh she fussed
