Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among thieves

Got to see it a bit early

Oh, I'm glad that's good!

It's not high cinema, but good acting by the Barbarian , Bard, and Paladin imo. And enough moments where if you've ever played a fantasy group table top, you'lll probably chuckle or laugh outloud at some of the way things go wrong

Oh, I love that, when they get a moment of "Yup, that's JUST how it happens!" The moments when you know somebody on the writing staff actually knows what they're talking about.

Clearly somebody played. It doesn't exactly follow the rules (Not taht I know 5th well) but hey, forgivable. If you've ever gamed in the forgotten realms you might get a kick out of the visual tour

Never did Forgotten Realms, but the movie sounds fun regardless.

Lot of humor , lot of action, and some surprisingly heartfelt moments

We just finished rewatching Loki (inspired to do so after the end of Quantumania)...I'd forgotten just how good that series was.

HIddleston has charisma

I hear he's actually a nice guy to the fans. Poses with little kids in thor costume standing over him triumphant etc

I love that. And I totally believe that. Some actors have "looks-like-nice-guy-but-probably-really-rude" vibes. He doesn't.

It's nice to find one that seems decent off the set too nod

When the series came out and I saw the name, I was like, y'know? I can see Sylvi looking kind of like that, but taller and a bit broader.

At the SCA event yesterday, somebody I know took over 50 photos and posted them. I'm not in a single damn one.

But I went, and it was pretty good.

Oh, the outfit itself was simple, but I had to have two variations because you're supposed to switch between high class and low class depending on what part of the event you're in. So I had a basic dress and cap, but then tossed on a sideless surcote, a veil, and a mask for the nobility area. My first time with a silk veil, and I think it was pretty.

I should ask, are there any games you're hoping for in the future with any particular characters of yours?

Hmm... I've been so absorbed with working on my paper today that it's hard to get into character-brain. At the moment, I can't really think of anything.

No, you're right to ask. I wish I could bring more to the gaming-table, but my brain's just preoccupied. The paper's really close. I finished writing the abstract today, and waiting for final approval from my advisor. If I can submit it before the end of the month, there's a good chance I'll be able to present it before the end of the semester. Then I have to develop my dissertation proposal and present that.

With any luck, start the actual dissertation in fall semester.

Yes. To a point. I don't want to get so distant from gaming that I lose the spirit for it. But I also don't like leaving everybody else in limbo if my character is necessary to a scene, etc.

It's meant to be fun, not a duty 😉
