An aside - regarding mystery bugs. It might be ants. One, I have actually FOUND ants. Two, the bites never really followed bed bug patterns. They were in places a small critter could get caught between a cuff and skin. New spray, found new dead ants. I just never thought of ants as bitey.

D, maybe you can help me find some bit of Changeling Errata. I'm trying to track down where it actually describes Samhain in the published books, specifically re: forgetting the next morning. A discussion came up in another group, and damned if I can't find anything in the core books or PhB either 2nd or 20th.

I only see mention of the mists hiding things from mortals. The thought being it does seem very bizarre that Changelings would forget a high holiday, one said to be so respected, meant for parting the mists to remember those dead and gone, and a time to take oaths and remember the past..

It's one of those things that Is Just Known, but now that I try to find it...

And, even more so - Samhain is a time for divination, to perform augeries and look into the coming year. How does that make sense... if you forget? :thinking_face:

Because the veil between the two worlds is thin, very few of the individuals present at Samhain ceremonies will remember what has occurred. This applies to other supernatural creatures as well. Only Instigators who possess the proper sorcerous rituals, and Ritualists who are protected by them, will recall what has occurred. Of course, they will use the information to their advantage later. What is hidden will become truth, and exploiting secrets builds new truths.

Well, I've got PBEMs galore somewhere on how I've handled it, so for me it's been an attempt to be consistent. Folks wake up with emotions, some slices of the night that are a bit surreal, and with knowledge of important things learned. Sometimees they're angry with someone and don't know why, or feeling oddly embarrassed about someone etc.

Interspersed with flashes of important things like oaths or visions

Piper Jonas and Siv for example had some pretty strong impressions IIRC 😉

It seems as though The idea is that there is going to be deep and mystical Shadowy Ceremonies that night and only the ritualists and instigators will really remember it

it's not taking into account hum drum halloween affairs.

Now the question is, is Samhain itself what causes the mists to wipe memories, or is that part of actually attending said court events?

...what purpose is served of childlings forgetting trick or treating? How does one pay homage to their unseelie side and celebrate their other half, if it gets forgotten?

Although 'round these parts, it really seems that most see it as a horror and a burden and not the wonder it should be...
