it's a service that works with local restaurants/bakeries/stores and offers to hand off food/goods that haven't sold at a steep discount at EOD. The catch is you get what they have, it's a surprise and not a pick-n-choose

But for $5, I've been getting bakery bundles that include fancy tarts, croissants, full loaves of bread... it's always guaranteed to be "$X value"

Now, the one time I got a surprise bag from a bodega, I got 3 tins of fancy imported sardines, 2 plaintains, 3 peaches, and a box of mac and cheese...
