I didn't know the 2006 version was a remake of a 1950 ish movie, but it's a feel good. In the remake at least, Georgia Byrd is a hard worker at a department store. She works hard, puts work first despite the fact they don't return loyalty. She is there for family even if they tend to take her for granted a bit while focusing on her trouble making younger sister. She has dreams she'll never pursue. Then she is diagnosed with a tumor and only so much time to live. She takes all the money she had been saving up, her 401 K, retirement stuff, everything, turns it into cash, and with nothing to lose heads to a fancy hotel in Europe , meets important movers and shakers who assume that as she is here, she must be some rich big wig too. She tries EVERYTHING, Speaks her mind, and... well, it's actually kind of fun to watch the timid get fearless
