It's an odd little play, VERY dark comedy

It concerns four women during the French Revolution (3 are real, the fourth is a pastiche of several Haitian revolutionaries) - Olympe de Gouges, who was a BADASS (and executed), Charlotte Corday, Marat's assassin (who wound up executed), Marie Antoinette (loses her head too) and 'Marianne' who was part of the successful slave rebellion

Man, the Haitian Revolution is one of those things that really shook the globe and does not get enough credit. If it hadn't happened we likely wouldn't have had the Louisiana Purchase. It also scared Slave Owners in North America and they cracked down even harder IIRC.
