We need to empty out garage in a month to do repairs. I offer to get cardboard because we are overflowing with it. Housemate asks I get styrofoam instead.... Styrofoam turns out to be a bitch to break down but I do it, fill up second can. Because trash upstairs has plent of room and can go out next week's load. REturn triumphant, TWO cans full... earn my pepsi... OTHER Housemate hears about this and says "Oh, but I just put chicken in this half filled trash, it's gonna stink up the house, can you take that out?" Ah, I explain there is no room for awhole bag in either can. But I can take out chicen box/remains she just threw into kitchen can. Grab that, it gets tied off, I take that. and SHOVE it into one can. Cans both now a bit overlowing but should be accepted. Ack.

What one must understand, is that a ketch has the mizzen mast (at the stern) smaller than the main mast (called mainmast). To be a ketch, the mizzen mast must be placed forward of the helm, or more precisely of the rudder. If the mizzen mast is aft, we are dealing with a yawl.

A ketch always has a mainsail without a jib. A ketch that rigs a jib (triangular sail above) is a Dundee.

Whereas, a schooner has at least 2 masts, but can carry more. The masts are either identical in size, or the foremast is smaller than the main mast. There are many forms of sail on schooners that the foresail rigged as a mainsail (on a boom) or as a jib with the halyard point on the main mast.
