Imagine a storefront in a suburban area - parking lot out front, dumpsters out back, lots of space because it's not a compact 'big city'. It's winter, cold, he would issue the invitation and expect them to come inside. The store is filled with sporting goods, new and second hand, there would be a storeroom in the back, and a back door as well.
