Also she LIKEs the Chief... respects her. The woman's a legend, but Brekke DId refuse to let her sulk and feel clumsy and inadequate. something Brekke could NEVER understand what it's like Wilder drama boils within

Ironically, I think Siv has qualities her mother might have envied in that regard, while coming 'short' no pun intended in some of Brekke's own strong points

Oh, there's no question of that. When Brekke first masqueraded as the "Siv" persona in Thyle, there was a lot of wish-fulfillment that went into it (she needed to obscure her own personality as much as possible, after all) -- she pretended to be what she had always wished she could have been.

Okay, short form: During that Dreaming quest, Brekke was the target of an assassination attempt. To pretend that she had actually been killed, Frank went into "mourning" and Brekke was cantripped to look like a vivacious young troll wilder, and she called herself Siv. She acted light-hearted and a bit flirty...which got her access to needed info and was really good cover for the eventual beat down of the bad guys.

She got pregnant some time after leaving Thyle, and when the baby was a girl...well, of course they were going to call her Siv!

Well, that's the thing. Siv isn't that. I think Brekke sometimes treats her like the persona she's not...and since that was a dangerous situation, she worries about what Siv gets herself into. BUT...that's mostly past.
