I learned a much about Cooper's hawks! They eat other birds as their main food source - chickens when they can get them, grouse and songbirds, but even other hawks on rare occasion. Anything smaller than it is fair game, which makes mating season - with the females sizably larger than the males - an interesting time!

In their range, some dislike them because if you put out a bird feeder, you will feed the songbirds, but also the Hawks 😄
