A tiny plastic piece that diverts between tub faucet and shower keeps falling out. But you can't just fix that piece, you have to replace the tub spout. Sure, that's maybe $200 for installation and buying a decent not-cheap spout.
But the shower also screams at you while you shower. It WORKS, but there's a high pitched off and on squeal. THAT is caused by a mixer valve that is worn out, and to get to that they have to replace the shower control.
