So...I live in a very touristy community. And I heard on FB that the new local "pickling" shop carries an excellent homemade tomato sauce, so I stopped in. Nice guy running the place, very hipster-mom-and-pop, and I was delighted that he still had some jars of the tomato sauce on the shelf. When he rung me up I narrowly avoided choking...$12 for a jar of tomato sauce. But...okay, hand crafted, hand jarred, etc. The price of small business. I just hope it's REALLY good.

Oooh, I've never made fresh pasta. Hmmm.

I managed to get four essays cleared away before I went out. Not quite as many as I'd hoped, but definitely better than none. I'll get an earlier start tomorrow and feel all kinds of accomplished. 🙂

I very often do NYE with friends, and italian friend traditionally makes pasta for it

Fresh pasta is surprisingly easy

if you have a food processor. Don't even need a roller

I mean, things make it much EASIER, but

mix, roll flat, slice into long strips!

Yeah, I get the sense that the idea of a pasta machine ignores the fact that people were making pasta a LONG time before such a machine existed.
