He HAS been convinced to delve a little by Zara though. At first because it pleased her to see him perusing the books, and then she would recommend one with a lion, and he has to admit that a cozy book and a glass of something is a nice alternative, though a lady on his lap might be nicer

I think the race that I had in mind would be a starter race for untried yearlings or young horses, without riders, just to show their form. But of course there would be others too.
