it's amusing to me because a similar (theoretical!) conversation came up with my husband ages ago, after first getting acquainted with our first truly poly friends. His answer to "what if I wanted to see other people was more" "Well I certainly couldn't STOP you, but I don't think it would be good for our relationship". It's interesting to see other people's takes on it, even Characters.

Poly is a LOT more complicated than people think, and it takes a lot of awkward negotiation to do it right. That can feel banal, but if you don't do it, people end up hurt. A lot.
