Okay, the protaganist of the Goblin Emperor is just ... damn nice. The poor guy is the unfavorite 4th Son of an asshole ruler, whose mother died years ago, so for 10 years he's been raised by a chanecllor who is also in disfavor and is an abusive angry asshole. Then he finds out his father and his elder brothers went BOOM in an Airship..suddenly HE is the heir and scrambling to make sense of it things as everyone wnats to make a puppet out of him (At best), and he is pretty much friendless and hated. He meets one of his half sisters, 28 to his 18... who has been used as a bargaining chip , arranged marriage hovering over her... she's a political asset nothing more. She's cold and aloof in their meeting.. and then he blows her mind by asking her "What would you do if you didn't have to get married?" She assume he's mocking her, tries to wave it off, but when he won't let her off the hook she admits she would study the stars. IE Astronomy ... charts, maps, learning about them. And he ponders how utterly silly it is for him, an 18 year old boy , to direct this poor woman ten years his senior who clearly does know what she wants. And he says "Then you should."
