I did have an incident the first time I was in Italy where a cat had kittens in my garage, so then I had cats.....

And at one point the mama felt the nest I provided in the house wasn't secure enough and moved them. She didn't tell me, though. So I'm in the kitchen washing up after dinner and hear a noise... look down... there's a little one wobbling out from under the sink cabinet!!

Well, I scooped him up and ... another? Ok, you too. And I'm taking them back to the nest wondering how they got so far....

.... when mama walks past me with one in her mouth.... to the sink.

And were you reasonable or did you try to take them back still?

It got to be a 3 Stooges routine, with me moving babies back and her trying to move them into the kitchen as we passed each other in the hall and I'm going "No, they go in here! They can't stay there, they'll get stepped on!"

I bought a new mouse from the pet store when Pip was.. eh, 2, 2.5 years?

Pip had had two litters of her own (long story there)

And in the mouse village we had like three hamster cages linked by tubes, with towers and wheels and all kinds of things

Pip, her daughters Clementine and Athena, and we welcomed in Checkers from the store

(Checkers was BEAUTIFUL, and she literally had a checkerboard pattern on her face)

Anyhow, cue a week or two after acquiring Checkers....

Pick up mouse.

Mouse has apparently swallowed golf ball.

Well, Checkers made a nest and had her babies, for sure.

....but PIP, oh, Pip made a nest up in the tower and would STEAL Checker's babies

I had to quarantine Checkers and the babies until they were weaned because Pip was Very Determined

She wanted to be a mommy again?
