The wild ponies of Assateague Island eat nearly all day just to get enough nourishment from their food to sustain themselves. The animals’ diet mane-ly consists of salty marsh cordgrass (up to 80%), seaweed, and even poison ivy! With limiting vegetative resources and a stable diet high in salt water content, these ponies drink twice as much water as most domestic horses! Pretty mag-neigh-ficent!
