Pennsic is.... well, not quite camping. we're pretty posh.

Well, my LAST camping trip was a legendary successful failure.....

I promised Thing2 I would take him camping at least once in his last year in Cub Scouts. He picked the event.

I had wanted to pick him up from school and set up camp on Friday night to be there Sat a.m. but THAT was the Friday he had a field trip 4 hours away (one way!) so I agreed to leave Sat morning, early.

Sick kiddo, sleepless/sleep deprived mom-o, decamp to motel to collapse, get Wendy's for dinner on the way back to campfire.....

Oh, and he left his Pinewood Derby car at home for the camping event that was.... the Pinewood Derby. So we added "Rescue by DH & Thing1 at the Cracker Barrel" to the list of classic issues on that one.

Here's the thing, though; we set up the tent and put our stuff in it. We ate a meal there. We ran the Derby (1 heat). He played with buddies. We attended the campfire. We struck camp and went home.
