I think his humor is a defense mechanism to a large degree. He seen friends and family die in dreams... he knows how each is likely to meet an end. He works hard to guide towards best case scenario but guide is all he can do and sometimes he's got to figure out what horrible thing NEEDS to happen for a long term win. He cherishes Akanthea as an Aunt, and respects Brekke like a legend.. and feels sometimes caught between them.
