Now, Fantasy movies are different for me. Eowyn is bad ass,and frankly adorable.

She is great, yes

LOTR, again, not great for the ladies

Tolkein didn't know what to do with them

He did not

Mind you, I adore the LOTR ladies

But yeah, deciding all Eowyn wanted in the end was to be a wife and healer?

And the 'girl as reward' trope is a hard one to shake. I can see why it would get offensive. Though at least with Arwen and Aragorn there's the 'they met beffore this and loved before' so not so much the 'oh look, hot chick comes with crown just cuz right?"

An aside: I think the Avatar universe is almost a perfect example of how to handle gender in fantasy universes
