I could share my impressions of Aquaman without giving any real spoilers, but they're a bit cynical.

Oh hit me with it.

Well....as with all their current movies, DC emphasizes excessive special effects, even in scenes where they're not needed. The colors are very COLORFUL, the textures are very TEXTURED, the designs are excessively DESIGN-Y. With Marvel, the movies feel more connected to reality; DC is pure fantasy, even in its grungier moments. It's an over-the-top aesthetic that I'm not fond of. But...our boy Jason Momoa brings TEH SEXY.

There's something that happens repeatedly in the movie that I won't mention here but I'll want to mention after you see it.

And yes, it wasn't too DARK Was it? Both metaphorically and in illumination? That's one thing I didn't like about Synder's Man of Steel/Batman V Superman and some of the Justice League. (I know he's not directing this one)

No, this is largely technicolor undersea iridescence.

thinking Some of the undersea creatures are hard to see at first, but that's by design.

Works. I was told that it embraces it's comic book nature pretty full tilt and that it's like Lord of the Rings done under water when it came to the visuals. I can live with that at a brighter tint I think.

Did you enjoy it over all? Like on a 1-10 it was above a five however barely?

I would give it a 7 overall, 8 for Momoa-factor.

My sister will like the Momoa factor, then again almost every hetero woman I've talked to online or off approves of him as "an aesthetic gift crafted by hard work and a Kindly goddess" Okay, only one used those words but I was the amused

I like those words! Though he's not always so impressive in real life as he is in the movie, I'm discovering. But that's cool.

Some actors I like to support just because they're really wonderful people. Keanu Reeves acting can be hit or miss, but the dude does a lot and doesn't brag about it.

Meanwhile, Momoa seems to be buying into his own press and letting it get to his head.

I will see. But honestly, how do I say this... this is one of those things that are expected of guys. A woman who isn't physically strong is delicate. A man who si not is a wuss. It's one of those little stigmas that works more against men than women in my expereince

Oh, I get it. And a woman who is physically strong (or who isn't afraid to use what moderate strength she may have) is a circus freak.
