Dagmar likes the chief, but, well - the way you like and respect a particularly competent and intimidating teacher/boss.

In part - but also, clear expectations. If she does this, she gets this. If she does that, X punishment, but not... capricious. What's good is always good, what's bad is bad, and it doesn't change from day to day without warning.

From so many places where she had to walk on eggshells, clear boundaries are a huge relief, even if she does like to push at them.
