A lot of people don't have the necessary documentation to get an ID. Every single step of the way, documentation costs money. Birth certificates, SS#....they cost money.

Record of live birth from a hospital is not sufficient documentation to get ID....and many people aren't born in hospitals, anyway.

Actually, what gets me is the fear that someone might not have an ID oh no, because they might cheat by one vote- but our voting machines have such crappy cyber security it's pathetic. A 14 year old with a wi-fi hotspot and a bit of intel can do a lot more damage than a homeless person

how about we do what developing countries do? Jam a person's index finger in a pot of royal purple ink after they vote, the kind that takes several days to wash off?

Those nations still have corruption at the tally level. But really, that's what we need to do....we need to stop expecting instant (computerized) results and get back to doing the hard work of actually counting and double-checking the ballot votes. It'll take days, but we'll know who actually was voted for if the system is properly supervised.

They absolutely did! I have to teach a whole unit in how to identify valid "news" online, and what to look for that might indicate a high bullshit content (of course I don't phrase it that way).
