But I've seen forums where if a guy gives an opinion, when opinions have been asked for...and it disagrees or elaborates? He gets told he's mansplaining.'

See, I always understood the term Mansplaining didn't mean nitpick (although there are elements), but rather those occasions where (usually) a man automatically, knee-jerk-style, overrides a woman's statement of fact or even her opinion with a correction, usually condescending... AND... he doesn't realize he's doing it.

Oh no... I'm not saying it means nitpicking. I was just using that s something both sexes do but might be accused on one more than the other

I know what term it is, but it's called presumption, and women do it too. Though at least your 'usually' indicates that you realize it is NOT always a man so thanks for that. I just find it a hypocritically sexist term which undermines its attempt to fight sexism. Two wrongs not making a right

I am challenging myself to listen for it. I don't recall it much in my life, but it's apparently ubiquitous, so ... maybe I'm just socially accustomed to accepting it? Maybe I need to become aware of it? Doing the same with my own privilege and such.
