And I've seen some crappy MEAN teachers... but it is INSANITY to think they're just babysitters. Anyone who has trained a willing adult in a job at a corproration can tell you how tricky it is. Now imagine if they were kids learning a subject they didn't like or didn't see the point of and you're supposed to bring them around? that's what teachers try to do 5 days out of the week. It's a mission impossible theme, and we expect them to pay for the supplies and be available for parent calls or emails at all timees and many still can't afford to live near the very schools they work at.

Skilled trades are great! Good way to avoid college debt and more. And the demand is often steady to good, but even those has problems and they're not for everyone. Lastly, it's a waste! Plumbing keeps civilization going, energy the same, but literature, art, culture, expression of the human condition are what makes a civilization worth while. Any society that forgets that is doomed to stagnation. We survive by needs, we LIVE by aspiring.
