What I love is that almost every member of congress has depth. Ruteledge seems an obvious villain, loyal only to South Carolina, and defending Slavery? Then he slaps the New Englanders with "Molasses, to Rum, to Slaves" . Dickenson is a man of conviction even if he is Addams greatest adversary in the room. You can't even blame Chase from Maryland for being practical

Honestly, I think the two guys that most stand in for the PEOPLE of Amerca are Mr. McNair and Mr. Thomson.. Thomson is the guy who does his job without griping hardly at all, is ordered about, and dutifiully tries to oblige as men of power make their choices. In the end, his loyalty falls not to the Congress, but the General... a man out there fighting for him, and he's grateful. And then we have McNair.. He's pretty sure his bosses are idiots. He's got opinions, and he's got no reason not to voice em! he's not impresssed by Addam's noise nor the laces of other and knows their shit stinks "YOu don't see them going off to war, do you? Sure are fine ones for sending others!" . These two guys are the book ends of America in my opinion.
