We go in for a share of a cow with some friends of ours. So all our beef comes from the same animal, locally raised, grass fed, local butcher, etc.

So our steaks are GOOD.

I have a dream of one day owning enough square footage to actually have a chest freezer

But I scarcely have a KITCHEN

Chest freezer was one of the first things we bought after we got the house.

There was one time the feast-ocrat for an event had a power outage, so suddenly all the food for the feast had to be stored somewhere...and our chest freezer just happened to be low at that moment. Perfect.

There are no finer things to hear from a relative than, "Why don't you grab some venison backstrap from the chest freezer before you go?"

Oh, I should put some hamburger in the fridge. I never think to thaw it in a timely fashion.

You can covert them into a cheap fridge too. Cheap temp thermometer/regulator from amazon and some wire baskets and it’s uses almost half the amount of electricity as a regular fridge

Regular fridge certainly has more space but when your roommate is an engineer AND a cheapskate things tend to get interesting.
