Apparently, in one of the ensemble scenes, the director blocked a gay couple with a baby.

extra layer of irony? The playwright, August, is a married gay man with a child. The composer, Lippa, is ALSO gay and married.

My personal opinion is that if depicting someone gay on stage - the mere existence of gay couples - if that's not acceptable, you don't get to produce anything created by a gay person.
