My AP students have their test Wednesday, too. There is much panic. They took a practice test...most of them got 2s. They need 3s for AP credit.

I think the best response I've heard to that was "Thank goodness you don't do stand up. Folks might mistake you for a jerk ...and we both know that wasn't your intent."

And I've done the just joking bit, both honestly and otherwise so I can't throw stones too badly but geez. My poor friend doesn't want me to 'fix it' just listen, so I am. But I do get angry on her behalf.

Mmph...people like that sometimes take "just listening" as a sign of tacit endorsement. I don't know if that's the case here, though.
